DOn't know now but stock is high .8's. My wife's car (a lowly Scion xD) is spec'd to an odd 195-60-16 H. When the time comes, it will have a 205-55-16 in a "V" or "Z" if I can find it.

If you feel comfortable running T or S or H on a V spec'd car, do so.

Sounds good. I have no problem with someone who believes a higher quality tire is worth the extra money to them, or even a shop that refuses to sell anything below a certain speed rating to anyone, no matter what their car came with. I'm only bothered by those who believe the speed rating has to be the same as what came on the car, yet considers the compromises of a lower speed rating to be acceptable for another car driven on the same roads and in the same manner simply because that's what it came with.

On my V-rated car I've got Y in the summer, T in the winter. I'd be willing to run an S if such things existed in my size.

You'll have no problem finding a V or better tire in 205/55R16. Off the top of my head I know that Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and BFG Traction T/A "V" are both available in that size and I'm sure there are many other good choices out there.

For a daily driver, I like a good H rated compound. I know this is a general statement. Lately I've had good luck with Bridgestones.

Update - the choices were better than I originally expected, but cost and expected mileage were not.
I settled on Cooper AS/4 (V rated) and the ride is very safe and sound. The tire shop owner said he "has to match" OEM speed and load ratings for his own protection as well as mine. I guess. He expects 40 - 45k miles for replacement.
I would have preferred an H rated for this app, but we'll see how it plays out.
Somebody said the top speed for this vehicles is 135 mph? It's a four banger with a downhill likelihood of breaking 110 at best.
She'll never break eighty.

Does V rated tire usually have better braking power than H rated tire? Say, from 80 to 0? Or they are just top speed rating rather than traction/friction?

The speed rating has nothing to do with traction. It is related to the strength of construction to handle deformation and heat at higher speeds.

Ah ...... Mmmmmmm ....... Ah ......... Not exactly.

While speed rating isn't directly related to grip, the general trend is for higher speed rated tires to have higher grip.

And - No! - Speed rated is not related to the strength of the contsruction. It's pretty much related to whether or not the tire has a cap ply (or more than one!)

Lipless alloy wheels (tape on wheel weights) and the XLE package and I'm looking at $125-$175 tires that aren't going to last much over 40k miles!

Who designed this one ??

You don't put your question very clear. V-rated is your only option, is that what you saying? If so it's no problem. In fact the higher the rating, the better quality tire construction. Nedless to say great traction and temperature ratings that usually come with it. Or you want one of those "forever wearing POS tires"? What is the problem? I wouldn't hesitate to buy it in the moment! I on the other hand have exactly opposite problem where I don't have any good choice in my size. All I got is A/S touring junk with speed ratings below H. Arghhh!!!!!!!!

It doesn't matter what number of cylinders car has. What is hp? My 115 hp four banger Civic can go 120 mph. I'm sure Camry has a lot more hp than Civic so I'm pretty sure you can go over 110 with no problem.

my placard for my 05 camry, (australian build), has minimum ratings of 94 H, and that's what I've put on in the rear. Fronts have V for no reason other than they were on special when the time came to buy them... but there is about a $30 premium per tyre usually.
