I've read some prior threads about universal CVT fluids in Jatcos. Some posters were adamant that you never put anything but OEM fluid in Jatcos because they are very finicky about fluid. A number of other posters said they use Castrol/Valvoline with 100% confidence and have never had a problem and even suggested those fluids are of a higher quality.

I want to do a poll to see what you think.
I wonder if that has changed as the Jatco cvt's have been refined over the years. I can remember early Nissan Cubes, and Jukes that had two or three transmissions replaced under warranty.

I use a universal CVT fluid in my Jatco CVT transmission, I used Eneos Eco CVT fluid and Amalie synthetic CVT fluid. I have a 18 Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4 that use CVT J4 fluid, The universal fluids I mentioned works great.

I never used Valvoline, Castrol or Amsoil CVT fluids.

I’ve used valvoline for probably close to 50k in my 09 Altima that I gave to my daughter with no ill effect. Although it did seem louder than the eneos eco it had before. With my 18, 21 and now 24, it’s either been Oem or idemitsu, which is technically Oem. $5.95 looks enticing but not at the risk. Amalie makes good fluids but I’ll pass.

I did a 3X cvt fluid drain and refill on my wife’s 2015 Altima around the 50K mile mark with Castrol TransMax cvt fluid. I did a single d/f at 75K and 100K miles on car. Currently at just over 118K miles on car. When she gets close to 125K miles will use my last 3 bottles of transmission max cvt fluid and will use a quart of the Castrol atf/cvt universal and use that from then on out.
