Using Roku 3 as an audio player?

Then again, even if he connects directly to the router (via network cable), the router itself could still be the problem. I guess the next step would be to connect directly to the cable or dsl modem to see if that makes any difference in speeds.

Both the modem and Router are almost brand new. The service is AT&T dsl and I pay 30 something with taxes and all.

I`m not sure Pete . I just got off with a live chat with AT&T , they are sending a technician tomorrow for a look .

The tech came out and replaced a couple wires in the box out at the alley behind the box . we ran the test again and the reading is around 1.3 now . He says that's about right for the plan I`m on. We`ll see.

That's not going to fix your pausing issues. You simply don't have enough bandwidth for video streaming with your plan. At least not for high def.

My Roku LT consistently uses 2-3mbps for high def video.

I suppose you can try it and see

I played a bunch of You Tube videos and a half hour episode of "The Rifleman" yesterday and did not have any pausing issues. On my Roku 3 I have loaded only free channels. I have Direct TV on my TV set in the living room and even though I`m on the cheap Select plan I think it`s too much money to spend. I suppose if I were to drop Direct TV at some point I would maybe use the pay for Netflix on the Roku 3 . But like you say with my limited internet speed that may not be a good idea.

Subdude , Thanks for the information. I`m not concerned with getting hi-def on this little 32" bedroom set tv . It gets little use . Seldom use that Roku 3 . I mainly catch a half hour of the late night talk shows before I click it off to go to sleep. I work a second shift and don`t get home til around 11:30 at night. As long as it keeps playing my You Tube and these old movies I get on the free channels I will be contented. Thanks, Jim

Wow that's not much faster than ISDN...

Hello the 90s called and they want their Internet connection back...
