Did a oil change on my 85 Honda V65. The only oil filters at the store were the black death cans. I crossed the PH6010A over to a Mobil 1 Extended Performance M1-104 car fliter. Will this be ok? or should I have bought a motorcycle filter?

Many Gold Wing owners have been using auto filters for years with good results.
That said, the Fram filters I've examined at Wal-mart have been decent looking; you shouldn't have a problem.
However, since the V-65 has had a history of cam problems (oil related or not), I'd opt for a larger regular duty oil filter(Hastings filters are black to, as are the Wal-mart SuperTech); the EP Mobil 1 is a high priced long life filter and you might be better off with a filter that flows more oil(less restrictive).

I've used "automotive" filters on motorcycles for over 40 years. Never had a oil-related problem on a motorcycle. In my applications, it's been fine to do. Even now, I have an automotive filter on a 2053 cc V-twin motorcycle...it works fine.
i used a napa gold filter on my bike i have now. Had no issues at all. Right now im using a k&n oil filter just to give it a try.

You must be aware of the bypass/relief valve pressure setting, when substituting automotive filters for MC filters. I've been using and recommending automotive filters for years as replacements for MC filters. But, on the vintage machines that I deal with, the bypass/relief valve setting must be 5-7 psig. Later H-D's use filters with 10+ psig bypass/relief valves. If your automotive filter valve meets the same specs as your machine requirements, then it is only a matter of brand preference when it comes to the actual filtering.

i have been using car oil filters for a while, i like the purolator pure one filters the best, they're middle ground for price, (cheaper the mobil 1 and more expensive then supertech's) and they're supposed to be best in terms of filtration (according to the box)
