Used Snap-on PolarTek A/C Machine- worth buying?

As long as you have a place to reclaim the refrigerant in a timely and cost effective manner. You have done more work in the past 19 years than I likely will.

I move often and just don't have anyone to "go to". I don't have the time to play games, so thought to buy this machine.

Now I found out a new requirement. To buy bulk freon, I need to be licensed..to get licensed one has to take a test..I took a practice test and scored 100 percent. Test seemed like a joke, like anyone could pass the test without knowing the material.
I got my 609 Certificate from MACs back in 2007 or so, mostly to be able to buy R12 for my 92 Cavalier. They sent me a laminated card after passing the test. You could buy R134a without it. I bought several 30 lb tanks of R134a some years back and I still didn't have to have a certificate to do so. I still have two full tanks and one with a little left in it so I'm probably set for life.

Does it do R-1234yf? I recently did my first AC fix with a lot of help from some experts here. Looking at My Toyota it only takes like 1.2 lbs of R-1234yf. I think that would be far more temperamental to overfill / underfill vs the older systems it seems?

Maybe post an up to date study guide for the test. With the real questions. :)
I always like the "It is believed" type questions when it comes to this sort of test. :ROFLMAO:

Paid $50 to do a online test. Unlimited tries. With zero studying, I scored a 90 percent. With unlimited tries, no reason to study, if I pass great, if I didn't pass- then study.

I took the entire ordeal as an absolute joke.

Im licensed and still can't buy a 30 lb cylinder. Besides the 609 Ca also requires that I have a business license. To buy one .

Fortunately I have bought one through my work and have a side can tap for smaller cans. Often customers bring me small cans which I trade them out and suck into my machine at a later date.

Purchased the database for the Robinare. This allows one to input the make and model and the machine will automatically add the required freon.

Robin Air sells the database for about $300 USD, I was able to get this sealed database for $75 USD on eBay..I have found many deals on eBay, this was nice to find.

The Robinare unit has a defective scale from the factory. No charge service call, but tech didn't stick the scale so I am not able to use the unit until he installs a replacement scale. Unit likely was dropped during the shipping processes.

No, the unit only does 134.

The Robinare tech told me not to get a dual 134 1234 unit. He stated it takes an hour to convert from 134 to 1234, and backwards. He stated better to buy a separate 1234 machine, the time to change freon type he stated was painful wait.
