So I've been collecting the left over 1/2 quarts of oil after every change. Various brands....Castrol Syn Blend, Valvoline, Formula Shell, AAP full Syn, Mobil 5000, Amsoil XL, half bottle of LubroMoly, etc...
SHook the heck out of the bottle to mix it all up and poured it into the MX-5 this weekend for my OCI. No complaints and runs super smooth. Boy that LubroMoly turns it all a charcoal color. But I figure a good 3k run of this mix will do just fine, if not longer.

It sure does, makes checking oil a lot easier for those of us who don't see as well as we once did.

Just for kicks, do the next oil change at Jiffy Lube and see what they try to upsell you to!

I've started a frankenbrew myself. I have not decided who's car is going to get it. Maybe my cheapskate cousin, since she never pays for the oil changes I do anyway, or my BIL who uses my Pennzoil Platinum and comes back with a store brand...

# of quarts in mix
.5 Valvoline 5w20 conventional
.5 Valvoline Next Gen 5w20
.5 Pennzoil Platinum 5w30
.5 Pennzoil Ultra 5w30
.5 Mobil Super 5000 5w20
