Most all Mazda filters look identical, differing in the efficiency of the media inside.
I use Fram 7317 as that is the oversize for most asian vehicles.

I recently read a YT comment that a manufacturer other than Denso makes Mazda OEM filters. 'If' so, they did an amazing job of copying Toyota Thai Denso OEM design.
Anybody know a good source for getting these at reasonable prices? Best I have found is buying a 10-pack off ebay and they're still around $12-13 per filter.
There's also the PE01-14-302A or B which are bigger filters. I'm new to BITOG so I wonder if the brain trust has developed a judgment about which one is better.
I bought the Pe01-14-302B off eBay and have a stash of them. The Thai made ones are good too but I figure if I can get the Japan made ones I would rather do that

For the first (topic), as I've long thought. For the latter, I've read that before too. Can't remember the name given for the manufacturer rando comment, but figured just hearsay.
The Thai Denso are not near to the cheesecloth looking media of the Roki Japan filters. Coffee filter paper is maybe less porous. The question still remains as to why perfectionists and experts in manufacturing and mechanical engineering make it this way. I have to look at Whip City again tomorrow morning to make sure that’s right. I know one was cheesecloth, or swiss cheese was another description.
