The vehicle in question is a 2011 journey with 150k miles.

Got offered it to trade for my C4 vette. It’s worth about the same. And a lot more practical than my C4 so I can justify the trade.

Now, I would never go out of my way to get a Dodge Journey. So I have no clue what to look for in these cars.
Supposedly the head and cam/rocker arm has been replaced.

Anything else I’m missing? I swear I thought the transmissions in these cars fell apart all the time but according to most posts online they only refer to the misfire/head issue.

I am only a single data point, but my moms 2013 Journey was the biggest piece of garbage I have ever dealt with. New problems every month. Broken interior trim and poorly wearing interior surfaces. It even had a parasitic battery draw which is a common issue on some of them, killed a battery every year. Based on that I could never suggest someone get one.

I have no direct experience with them, but have heard their front end and suspension components are pretty horrible along with all the interior bits like @JoelB said.

If it has the pentastar V6 and 62TE 6spd trans, that's a nice combo. The 4cyl w/ 4spd auto is pretty simple and reliable.

Don't know anything about them. Just know that you said you wouldn't go looking for one.

Were you looking to trade your Vette?

Seems like a trade you are likely to regret. You probably went looking for the Corvette. Unless you want/need this, pass. That's my advice for what it's worth.

Neighbor bought a 4 cylinder 2012 base model new, only 65,000 miles presently. Suspension joints and brakes are weak/under sized. Interior, one seat adjuster trim piece broke and the hvac blend door actuator failed. The wires to the rear hatch that twist when the hatch is opened fray/break/fail causing no electric hatch release and/or wiper. I would think a decent C4 vette would be worth more.

Sadly, these Journey’s just don’t have a good reputation. Sure there are those who may have had good success with their own and also may be insulated by others who bash this SUV...I’m not bashing!

However the Journey’s poor reputation is in fact justified with the exception of a particular model year(who knows which one that is:unsure:) that may show better results than other model years.

We’ve owned 5 Chrysler vehicles over the years and they’ve all been the most problematic vehicles for us. Not much has changed in this regard.

I'd say hard pass.
I can't remember the year or years, however I was listening to a talk radio show that was discussing the Lemon Law and they commented that the Dodge Journey had more Lemon Law cases filed against the model than any other marque or model in the same time frame.
Not a great honor.
At the time, I googled Dodge Journey. It was atrocious.

They were garbage when they rolled off the assembly line new......

Journey is about $4-5K. Is that all a C4 is worth?

Worth is relative to demand. Not much demand for C4s unless their stupid cheap, even if they run good. Mine is a hair over 100k miles so it’s a tough sell.
I figure I can probably only realistically get 5500-6000 during the summer. Anymore and it becomes a gamble. One I don’t really have time for.

I like Dodge and I’d run away from a Journey. The V6 combo is the only decent thing about it, otherwise it’s a numb Dodge Avenger someone pumped up too big with an air compressor.
