Dad just told me something that I didn't see coming...
He's getting tired of the Park Avenue, and wants a crossover. He and Mom are getting older, and they're getting tired of "falling" into the Park Avenue, then having to climb out of it.
They're wanting something that sits higher off of the ground, yet they want something that is still rather economical on fuel.
They have friends with a newer RAV4. I think that is where some of this is coming from.
It won't be used to tow anything, as they have the Sierra for that.
And it will have to be used. Dad doesn't buy new. The problem is, new may actually be a better buy in this segment.
So, my initial reaction is either a CR-V, a RAV4, or an Equinox. He's a lifetime GM man, and has never owned a "foreign" make, although I don't see that as a huge problem.
But no Fords. You know where would freeze over first.
The biggest issue is that the nearest Toyota dealer is as lousy as it gets. I honestly don't know how they stay in business with the way they treat people. So that puts a RAV4 behind right away.
Right now, I'm leaning towards the CR-V.
The Equinox with its V6, is going to take a hit with gas mileage... although the 2010 has the 2.4 Ecotec. But, that's too new and too much $$$.
Price wise, it will need to stay in the middle teens, as much as possible.
