My 2003 PT Cruiser is coming up for it's next trans. fluid change (doing a pan drop, filter change and fill every 20,000 miles). I've had the service done twice, once at 20k and again at 25k when I discovered the dealer didn't replace the pan filter. I've been sticking to the Chrysler recommended ATF+4 and the trans shifts ok at 42k miles but I do have a slight "bump" when shifting from 3-2 and 2-1 (not noticeable all the time but often enough to cause concern...trans has been doing this since the car was new). After all the good things I've read about Specialty formulations and their availability of an ATF+4 compatible fluid I'm going to give it a try. I'm just wondering if I should consider a flush with full changeout to SF fluid or just stick with dropping the pan and adding about 5 qts. to the 12 qt. system...any thoughts?
