Use less gas this method ?

When my truck uses 1/4 of a tank I fill up. That's how I save money.
Flame suit on! :)

The more the gas used the CALCULTED gas mileage gets closer to the DISPLAY ( Avg. M.P.G. ) . Have been keeping track of gas mileage at FUELLY for 10+ years . Always put DISPLAY ( computer ) in NOTES for comparison to calculated .

Video is koo koo. The guy is driving %55 further because he gets better mileage while doing that. The shorter route uses fuel at a higher rate but it is a lot shorter and in the end uses less fuel and takes less time.
You might enjoy the drive more, but saving fuel? Not.

Not sure anything has beaten the slowest speed possible in the highest gear possible with as few stop/starts as possible? with as much coasting to a stop, when possible?

of course, hypermiling just annoys people on busy roads, let's just acknowledge that. As does wide speed differentials. I have to wonder, if driving when others aren't wouldn't help, then you can drive however you want, possibly without sitting in traffic.

I just fill up whenever the tank gets below an eighth, or when the light comes on, or when the needle drops below E. Not going to change now just because gas prices change... I mean, I'd like to fill up at the lowest cost possible, but still.

I just left Boston cruising at 80 and was passed like I was standing still by mostly SUVs.
this is what drives me nuts. People complain all day about gas prices but don't do the simple things that would save a significant amount of fuel. #1 Slow down #2. Check air pressure in tires #3 leave a large following distance so you dont need to hit the brakes as often

I drive on I-95 every day and the driving habits do not vary based on fuel costs

When range gets between 120 to 80 miles left, then I fill up. I like to have enough left in the tank at any time so that if something unexpected happens with our family, and I have to do some driving there is enough in the tank to not have to spend time thinking about when I will be able to fill up.

I gas up now usually at 2/3 Rd of a tank left. Not saving anything but I like not getting those $100 plus fills...

I do all 3 of those things.
