Apparently the entire US government and postal fleet may go electric. (Trying not to be political). For those in the know, how long do the various services keep the vehicles before they get replaced? I believe there is something like 640,000 vehicles involved in this plan.

They just announced a few days ago that they are going with a vehicle that has fuel efficient internal combustion engines but on a platform that will allow for electric powertrain options in the future.

The change will only pertain to delivery vehicles. Its big rigs will continue to be diesel. I'm sure the veteran USPS automotive mechanics will be looking forward eagerly to being trained on the new models. Not. Maybe the unions will use this excuse to lobby for a pay increase. Whatever the new delivery vehicle is, it will be a sight better than the AM General POS that I drove in 1977.
