Well folks, it must be the holiday season.

I received an email message directly from UPS last night, to expect a package from UPS today.

Hi, you have a package coming tomorrow.
Estimated Delivery Date: Wednesday, 12/09/2015
Estimated Delivery Time: 11:00 AM - 03:00 PM

Tracking Number:
1ZE24A620332xxxxxx
UPS Service: UPS Ground

No package... no surprise. Maybe tomorrow, right? Well, maybe... I guess. I'm not holding my breath with these idiots.

No blizzard, no rain, no ice storm in Louisville (UPS's HQ), but no delivery.

UPS's systems seem to have some serious problems.

Of course, this is in addition to a UPS driver who is apparently too stupid to not leave packages containing electronic items, on a wet doormat, when a much better (dry) alternative was in plain sight, just 18 inches away. And that was just earlier this week.

Not enough from the sounds of it.

I would be more worried if tracking stated that it was delivered and it wasn't at my house.

I remember when you'd mail order something and not know exactly when it was coming. So delays were invisible.

I seem to remember the 'Not available in stores' commercials for gimmicky items sold on TV when the blue screen with the phone number and address would come up. It always said something like 'allow 4 - 6 weeks for delivery.' Yeesh.

It's the busiest time of the year from them. I found it to be typical not to get packages when they say you're supposed to get them this time of the year. OTOH two or more days late might mean someone took the package if UPS left it outside the door.

And yet others of us receive packages on a regular basis without a single issue. This week I've received packages from UPS, USPS and FedEx, all without a single problem.

Even if I did have an issue, rather than getting on a discussion forum and having a fit, I'd just contact the company and get it resolved that way.

I wish it was like it was years ago,you HAD to sign for it or they wouldn't leave it.

FWIW I'm a truck driver and am seeing a lot of lease trucks pulling UPS trailers (I'm presuming for the holidays). That's an indication that they are using temp workers who are more prone to mistakes. Also, there is such a heavy workload they are busting it everyday to get all their packages delivered. I'm not making excuses for them, just observations.

For what they charge for shipping these days, they should be several times better than they used to be...I could see the prices being higher when fuel costs were high, but now that fuel costs are next to nothing, these companies should be passing that down to their customers in the form of lower shipping prices...

A not serious speed bump in the walk of life. Were you expecting a life saving drug or something that would extend your life? Must have been important to cause so much anguish. :-))

Yeah, having to take time off work to get packages was WONDERFUL!

We've received numerous packages over the last few weeks from each of the "big 3" (USPS, UPS, FedEx), and all have been on time as expected. For us, if something is late, it's very much out of the ordinary.

It's a busy time of year for them. It's a busy time of year for everybody. A little extra grace and understanding to all is, I think, appropriate.

No kidding. It was great when I could receive packages at work, the receiving department--gee, it's what they did all day long, handling a package or two for me was trivial. However, I think some people took advantage of that & the then-relatively new Ebay, and were essentially running a biz using company resources. For free. So no more receiving packages at work.

Several years ago I ordered a new Tracphone, only to realize it required signature. Luckily schedules coincided and wife was able to sign. Otherwise it'd been an hour to drive to the (UPS?Fedex?) place to sign for it in person.

I live in the sticks. I'm more worried about squirrels than thieves. I'm good with not signing for things.

most people would rather whine about things, than deal with petty issues in a rational manner.

back in the summer, a guy started a thread like this. he said that he had never had an issue with any delivery service for many years. the FIRST time a package was late, he's on here crying about the service.
I love these whining threads for the entertainment.lots of laughs.

(while writing my last post, a friend came over, and we decided to go fishing, up north.got back a couple of hours ago, after a week. point is, I missed a lot of very funny/ entertaining threads.)

once again, thanks to those that write the whining and goofy topic threads. the laughs are priceless.

Monday 11/30 my USPS 2-Day Priority Mail package was scanned at it's origin in Fresno, CA. It wasn't scanned again until it hit Portland on 12/6 and was finally delivered 12/8. 2-Day service I learned, after waiting on hold for over an hour, can take as many as 5 days. 6 business days it took them.
