In the new(ish) Ford 7.3 godzilla, there is a reported problem of cam/lifter destruction that is frequently blamed on low oil psi at idle (variable displacement oil pump on an engine that was other wise designed to be an old school simple big v8) I am currently running AMSOIL Signature Series 5w30 but can't help but wonder, would a 10w30 or 0w40 possibly help? The other theory is parts supplier metal issues, which I know no oil will resolve, even if I was in that unlucky 3%

Anyone ever been into one of these that has thoughts to offer?

Couldn’t hurt anything but a minuscule and unnoticeable amount of fuel economy and power. I would try Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-40 or if you want to stay with Amsoil, the Signature Series 0W-40. You could also go with a VW 504/MB 229.5 approved 30 grade oil like Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 and accomplish mostly the same thing for $6/quart.

I'm just so jealous that you peeps can get Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 0W-40 for $27 a gallon. It's $53 for me and it NEVER goes on sale. EVER...
Actually 1.25 gallons.
And yes, the ESP products are a bargain at the big chain department store.

Granted few people get online to brag about how great their vehicle is, its generally to rant and rave about how one failed, but in the fb group there are 2025's with 30k on em getting long blocks for said failure. What percentage of trucks this is, I do not know

My company truck is a 2023 F250 and at 42,000 miles lost a lifter and lost compression in 3 cylinders. Ford replaced it under warranty but since then I haven't had any problems with it at 81,000 miles. It does tow heavy at times and idles a few hours a day. If it were my personal truck it would get a 10w-40.

I have to correct myself. I didn't catch the Delvac in your original post.
The Delvac does come in one gallon jugs.
I'm not sure if that's a good deal or not.
It's a terrible deal, and my bad I just double checked the website and it's $54.99 for a U.S gallon☹️
Awesome oil though💪(y)

But nobody pays that because Canadian Tire puts it on sale so frequently for $43 (plus getting CT money back via Triangle Rewards)
Not here in Vancouver. Other Heavy Duty Engine Oils do go on sale periodically but not the gold standard.

I've never seen Delvac 1 0W-40 ESP on sale here unfortunately, and believe me I'm always checking🤬

Even if you’re not finding it on sale in your area you can at least reduce the price for the next time by getting it whenever the Triangle Rewards deals are really good.
