Still, you would expect HP to point to their own drivers, not Windows Update....

I bought a new Brother Printer today......I'am forever done with HP

UPdate: Unplugged my HP printer to move it to another XP machine in the other back office. Once I took the power off of it...dead as a door nail.

I guess 20 years of printing is enough........

UPDATE: Got a HP firmware update for my old printer and used the HP driver from on here (THANKS!!) My old HP printer works like new.....sent the Brother back. Got the updater installer in and it has downloaded over 300 updates in two days....

Now the system runs like a champ...graphics are excellent.............very snappy.....

Thanks to everyone here who gave me some suggestions on how to save myself a few $$ and extend the life of my system.
