Does Honda make such a thing? Any idea of cost?Oem hid retrofit
Can you recommend one for a 2008 CR-V? I am currently working on 2 for friends and forgot just how bad the halogens can be.Look at an oem hid swap, worth the effort involved
Hidplanet has a few members that will take an oem clear headlamp and install oem projectors, seal up the assembly and ship them. Then it's just a case of mounting the ballasts, and bulbs. Right now I don't see any led lighting that can compete with an oem hid setup. BMW's laser headlamps are just about the best output on the market but run $3-$4,000 per side. The retrofit source has parts. Pm me if you have any questionsCan you recommend one for a 2008 CR-V? I am currently working on 2 for friends and forgot just how bad the halogens can be.
If manufacturers just used a projector setup on led headlights there would be way less glare and much better output. I read years ago that the best reflector headlamps only are roughly 78 percent efficient at throwing light vs over 90 percent for a well designed projector setup.I replaced the bulbs in a old Retired Police Crown vic with inexpensive LED and I was very happy with what I got in return for low price paid!
After changing out the bulb I could now see the road and never got flashed so don't think I was blinding anyone but understand that can happen.
I got lots of flashes from other drivers from my then new 2017 Ford Fusion that came with super bright factory LED's.
Perhaps try a set but verify if you can return a open package ? I wonder will Amazon allow that kinda of return?
I changed out my Harley light, the entire headlight for a led fixture or entire headlight $165 and love it!
While there are sketchy Ebay LEDs that will just glare like mad, there are many of well-engineered LED retrofits (like Diode Dynamics/morimoto) that work perfectly in existing halogen housings. The general consensus (my opinion included) is that you should NOT put LED bulbs into a housing designed for halogen bulbs. Unless you can adjust the LED bulb in such a manner as to absolutely duplicate the exact focal point of the halogen ones, it will produce diffuse light (glare) and reduce the ability to put light where it should be. They may be brighter, but that can fool the eye to believe it is better when it is not.
Don't see any U.S. options there. Really like that bulb though, seems to take care of the excessive glare.
No led aftermarket bulbs are calibrated or certified for the USA.Any U.S. equivalent bulbs?
