I bought a UPF48R filter assuming a silicon ADB and received what appears to be a Nitrile. I then found photos of both online. Do you know what this filter is supposed to be built with?

A black ADBV is most likely nitrile. Nobody here has ever proven that black silicone ADBVs exist - with a flame/burn test.

The ACDelco website shows the base gasket is different than your photo, so apparently ACDelco is making changes without updating their website.

This will live on a LS3, am I correct in assuming the ADB is not as important in this case do to the filter positioning?

Any oil in the filter and galleries that is located above the level of the oil in the pan can still drain down to the level of the sump if the ADBV leaks. Gravity will try to push the oil down to the level of the oil in the sump if there is nothing in the path to stop it.
