It was interesting to say the least. I asked for the manager and one customer told me I was the thrid one to ask for a manager. I explained what happened and the guy took me to the shop and showed me a company photo of the guy and asked if that was the one that took my money, which it was. The guy was fired along with 3 other people not for leaving filters on but for taking cash and pocketing it. At first he didn't want to help me but I let him know that I would get compensated no matter what and if I had to go out of my way, it was going to be a lot more than the price of an oil change and filter.

I ended up getting a month's worth of free carwashes. I figure at three $16.50 washes a week, that will make up for my troubles. I drive the Murano in the oil fields so it gets nice and dirty every day. They offered a few free oil changes but I declined that offer. I feel like they got off very easy but it made me feel all warm inside knowing the guy that ripped me off lost his job.

It never ceases to amaze me how employers don't seem to get that they are responsible for the actions of their staff. They fired the guy for being a crook, yet they still don't want to admit they owe you anything for his actions. Incredible.

That bites bro! Glad you got your satisfaction with the car washes! I used to work at a Qwikie Lube and I am proud that the one I worked at was honest. I often take my cars to Qwik Lubes and am very dissapointed with some of the things they do. Filters are way overtight. They write how much qts of oil and brand with a sharpie and this really, really [censored] me off! Especially when they write the wrong amount of oil!

I am hoping the Ford Dealership I am now using will be a bit better...

Here's to hoping!

I am glad you got some resolution on this. I'll bet you'll never frequent another boob-lube again. Heck, I have even seen my family's cars oil changed at dealers and not done right. At the Nissan dealership my sister's Sentra was 2 quarts low after an OC. Don't know what exactly happened there.

For me, about the only thing I'll use a service place for is timing belt, clutch, and automatic transmission issues as i do not have the skill level necessary to tackle those items.

It is encouraging the place owned up to hiring jackasses.

When you get the washes, make sure they actually spray water on the car....

Glad it worked out OK. It always pays to do it yourself when you can but when you can't you'd like to think they won't intentionally rip you off. Good call on taking the free washes and skipping the free oil changes.

My Dad was in a Sears auto center once when a customer was complaining that they waxed his car without washing it first. I don't know if he had paid for the washing, but waxed-in dirt? I felt for him either way ...

I completely agree! It stinks that there are people in the world that would do this kind of stuff. You shouldn't have to double check the work when you paid them good money for their (alleged) services.

In my younger years, I worked at a quick oil place for about one week - couldn't stand the oversell and high pressure tactics so I went and found a job somewhere else.

quicky lubes also have a lot of turnover in both employees and customers. So the incentives to maintain long term business relationships are destroyed. It's like look for high quality in a tourist area. Lots of opportunities to screw people over cause you'll never see them again.
