Visit Blackstone's website - all you ever wanted to know about submitting a used oil sample (and then some!

) .

no problem. The preferred way is not to posted a graphics or pdf file. To post a formatted text table, use an editor like notepad or wordpad to create a table with the results. Examples can be found in the UOA forum. When posting posting use the Full Post button. Follow this instructions for the subject line. http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=000852

To post the text from your table you created in notepad/wordpad, high-light the table and copy it, in the forum reply window click on the LIST-START button, paste the copied text then click LIST-END. Use the Preview Post button to check your post before you add the post then post when you're happy with the format.

We really need to make a "Universal UOA data entry form".
Put fields for every element possible, all viscosities tested, chemistry tests like TBN, oxidization, nitration, etc.
It would make it real easy to enter data into a spreadsheet for comparison, etc.

Excellent Idea. If everything is put in the same columns we can easily consolidate the data. Not everyone has Excell so I am not sure how to make a worksheet.

A little javascript and/or perl in a cgi script would do the trick. Don't know if this BB software is modifiable to make it fully automated into a post.

Why not scan it in as a small jpeg assuming you have a scanner? Most people have broadband these days and even if you don't a 700KB jpeg isn't gunna kill anyone.

Obviously scanning in a 15MB BMP is insanity.

The problem with a scan is you cannot cut and paste the information out into a larger database from a scan. If we had one concistant format to post the elemental information in we could easily cut it out while doing research and paste it into a spreadsheet.

The other problem with the scan is... three years later, the server you were linking to goes away, and now no one knows how Billy Jimbo Bob's small block Chevy in his '82 Malibu did on Redline 20W50.
The UOAs on here are an AWESOME resource and when we lose that data it is a HUGE tragedy.
About the 700 KB jpeg... pay for server bandwidth. Get thousands of users. You'll be READY to kill someone over 700 KB jpegs unless every BIT of data was critical.

Okay. I am working on a universal form.
I have my list of elements. Please advise me if I'm missing one.

Copper
Iron
Chromium
Aluminum
Lead
Tin
Boron
Moly
Phosphorous
Zinc
Magnesium
Calcium
Antimony
Sodium
Potassium

May I suggest you keep the same order as the most common labortory (Blackstone/CAT??). You may also want to look at a few of them to see if your list is complete.

Right. Good call.
My order came from Schaeffer's, initially, with a couple of items from Blackstone inserted.
Seems like Blackstone *used* to be our biggest lab. I'll look at the last 15 posts on the UOA board and whoever has a majority will get their order encoded in my template.

Blackstone it is.
I may break the elements up logically, though:
Metals, then Chemicals.. Chemicals being additives + antifreeze. Don't know where that would put Silicon, though...

Here is my uoa report for my wife's 04 Toyota Camry. We bought the car new on 1/01/04. She uses the car hauling our 3 children around town ,with one or two trips a week(30-40 miles) on the highway. She also warms the car up (5-10 minutes) on most mornings here in northern Massachusetts October through March.
I changed the Dino oil and filter at 500 miles and put in 5-w30 Dino plus Napa gold filter. Then changed everything over to Amsoil at 1500 miles on 4/01/04. I change Full flow Filter every six months and By pass filter every 12 months. I also use tri guard oil analysis program. I sent in first uoa after 1000 miles. Then suppose to test every 12 months after. I did second uoa on 6/03/05. I only waited 6 months for last uoa concerned about water contamination.

I am interested in everyone’s opinions.
I Would also like to hear from the experts.
Unfortunately cannot change the way wife uses care. (short trips and long idling)
