I hate smart watches. I tried it, and its convenience wasn't enough to push me away from basic old school watches. BUT at the same time I will never buy a watch that's $500+, just because it's old-school analog, boutique, and cool. So for the longest time ever I just went around with a basic Timex, Casio, etc.
Recently the algorithm threw a watch company on my radar... Benly Design out of Hong Kong. They definitely got some "outside the box" designs! 70s-90s nostalgic stuff, as well as futuristic Cybertruck (yes lol) watches. I am definitely intrigued!
Any of you familiar with that company? Happen to have a wristwatch from them and able to provide a true owner feedback? I'll post some screenshots below, but designs are very interesting to me. Still on the fence about getting some, because part of me is screaming "Chinese Junk"... But...but...what if its not?...
Anyways, let me know what you think fellas. Thanks!

Weird, but I dig it. Never seen such wide selection of styles from a single manufacturer.

Would you (or maybe do you already) wear any of these?

P.S. Funny moment from their website. Each watch has a video of it, and in some videos you hear people chatting in the background 😆

I gave up watches for a bit but have come back. At times I try to leave my phone behind and not be tethered to it--but kinda like to know the time. But the biggest reason is that I like the GPS and tracking that my Garmin watch has. If I do a hike and go out 2.2 miles, and turn around, then I know I won't be back at the car until I hit 4.4 miles (some hikes are more painful than others). The Garmin supports a chest strap so as to properly get heart rate, which I've found necessary for cycling (the watch doesn't read properly).

But I felt real foolish spending $250 on it. I can't imagine spending more, and I only spent that much because the GPS features. And the fact that it'll go 3+ weeks on a charge.

A quick flick of my wrist, when my hands are full, as they often are with tools, is vastly more convenient than pulling a phone out of my pocket.

Particularly when my hands are on the controls of an airplane - even a car - that’s no time to be digging out a cell phone.

My titanium Seiko leads a hard life, but it is perfectly legible, accurate, and tells me the time. I’m not digging out my cellphone with greasy hands or greasy gloves when I am working.

My daughter, the surgeon, doesn’t use her cell phone for time when she is in the OR. She can’t. Sterile field. The scrub nurse answers it if it goes off, but she can’t use it for telling the time. She has a watch.

The answers in this thread about how a cell phone replaces a watch, are hilarious. The OP clearly wants a real watch.

This is like the guys weighing in on any thread, saying, you don’t need a car, when there is public transportation available, or you don’t need a motorcycle, buy a car.

Talk about off topic, and proselytizing, when the topic is about watches.

The Hive Core is pretty cool.

Kind of like a budget Urwerk.

I got away from wearing watches for a while, but came back with a vengeance about 10 years ago. Started with a Timex chrono that I bought for a business trip, which then prompted me to dig out an older Timex that I received as a gift and needed a new battery and watch band, and then I slipped down the rabbit-hole. IYKYK.

But I digress. Here's a vendor that has some unique designs, I'd really like to get one of the regulator watches, but they're too spendy at this time.

Xeric Watches

Update: just got an e-mail that Timex's 30% off sale on their website ends tonight. If your inclinations lead that way, it may be worth a look.

I feel 'naked' without a watch on my wrist, work and life make me track time, cell phone isn't always an option to pull out. I have a few analog and digital ones, currently rocking Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar on daily basis. Before this one I was wearing Suunto Core for some 20 years, still have it and it works perfectly while got a bit worn on outside.
