Understanding Words

I read this in the recently locked thread:

Is it me, or did most take this as a political view?

I took it as the enforcement of the rules is done in a liberal, instead of draconian fashion. Let it run unless there is an issue.

It seems many on that thread took it as the site is politically liberal, which others scoffed at or supported in one form or another.

Wouldn't it be good form to ask the person who posted that what they meant, rather than just assume and then argue against it?

My theory is behavior like that, assuming meaning and arguing against that assumption is what leads the power to be to avoid such discussion.

Thoughts?

Yup. It was fun watching that thread degenerate to the point it either had to be locked or deleted.

I took the word "liberal" in this instance to be referring to the moderating, not to politics.

Anything to do with government, which ultimately relies on death threats to get its way, stirs up the emotions. I avoid the L and C words, and like to stick to the peaceful l and c words, which have totally different meanings.

I'm sticking to a conservative OCI, rather than spending money on UOA every time.

Exactly! Enforcement here is very liberal. For example, saying that "liberalism is a disease" may be (and was in fact) said freely just the same way someone might post that "conservatism is a disease." Right!?

Few here even knowo the original definition of "liberal" in a political sense. These days, it's just a popular term to denigrate anyone who isn't a GOP dude.
