Just did an oil change so took some pictures. Don't think I've seen a domestic or Euro car with half those miles look as bone dry under the engine and transmission.

Or as oxidized or corroded…

That looks in fantastic condition compared to a lot of cars here in the UK. Salt, mud and grid turns the underside into a total mess pretty quickly. If my car looked that neat after 245k miles I'd be pretty happy with that.

The bolts scream northern vehicle, but otherwise its a Toyota. My 13 year old Lexus looks the same except my bolts are in general pristine.

Thats a shame, a few oil leaks would go a long ways towards longevity.

IMO, given what rust can be seen, this was not designed to last decades. 10 and done, which is more than the average driver wants (bitog excepted, of course).

My Dodge Neon of all beaters was dry underneath after ten years when it rusted out in the rear quarters.

One of my sisters has a 2013 Jetta that looks like that, but it only has 220k or so. I've done all the maintenance on it.

If you take care of stuff it will show.

My Cobalt looks like that; clean enough to eat off of except being on the underneath the food will fall right off. 275K miles. It has the rust though.

That's the struggle in the Northeast. My sister's Jetta is dry underneath, but the metal subframe is starting to rust and so is the transmission pan. My mom's 2011 Honda Fit has some rust on the metal bits underneath with only 100k miles. My other sister's 2003 Acura 3.2TL is an oily mess underneath with 230k miles, but that mess has kept it from rusting. 🤷‍♂️
