Undercoating made easier ?

I have been dealing with a coolant leak and just bought the dye that you pour into the radiator. The idea that when a UV light is shined on the engine, the leak is very obvious.

My undercoating idea:
1) Add the (oil base) dye to a gallon of Fluid Film.
2) Fill a spray gun with the Fluid Film
3) Tape a UV flashlight to the spray gun nozzle
4) Turn flashlight on & begin spraying.

Question: Has anyone ever tried this ?

Undercoating season is fast approaching.
I may experiment with this idea.
Reason: See missed areas

I have to go out for awhile.
Discuss this amongst yourselfs.

Wouldn't a normal flashlight and a pair of eyes be able to show you the areas that you missed?

How about you undercoat normally then mix up the dye with some water. Spray it on so it beads, the water that doesn't bead will look way different.

I always found it easy to see. I also keep the vehicle up in the air for a few days and apply a second coat once things stop dripping, running, etc.

I'm kinda lazy, but if you really cared, wouldn't you just squirt the vehicle every so often? I mean, every tire rotation, take a look and spray what you can, or anything that "looks" dry; couple times a year, intentionally crawl up and under it, spraying everything.

I mean, once you give everything a good going over, it should be good for quite some time. Re-applying should not require that much work I'd think, since there will still be a bit left over from the last time.
