I replaced my lifters on this side today as some of you know. Anyways I took a couple of pictures. 2014 Sierra 6.2 bought used with 72,xxx miles, and 1 previous owner.
Current mileage is 98,559.

What brand and weight of oil do you use? How many miles for the oil change intervals? Engine looks very clean inside.
So since I’ve owned it, dealer bulk, Mobil, and some supertech.
Either 5w30, or 0w20.
I dropped both set of lifters on 5w30 not saying that’s the cause, but Now I’m worried it’ll happen again if I put 5w30 in it 🙃.
Between 4-5,000 miles unless I did something like the lifters then it’s about 500 miles just to dump contaminants.

Nice! And short OCIs.

Not sure if there are any bad syn oils these days since they all have to meet some min spec by the manufacturer.

I also prefer shorter OCIs over extended OCIs with fancier oils!
You pay the $ you saved with extending the oci to buy the fancier oil and then some! Then dump more $ into UOA to make sure you made a wise decision by extending the OCI. Pure logic! :ROFLMAO:

I agree with some of what you said, however a used oil analysis from time to time can be beneficial especially when driving patterns change as in the case of my wife retiring. I ended up shortening the OCI as a result of a recent report. It can also monitor poor air filtration, coolant getting into the oil, fuel dilution, etc. Having said that I'm not a fan of stretching out OCI's as long as possible. In another used oil analysis I discovered a 3 year OCI will work just fine, I might even go a little longer. ;) Time to hide.

I agree to the benefits of used oil analysis. Any new piece of data can never be bad.

However, I'm sure experts may jump on you though and say you need to do MANY continuous used oil analysis for it to be meaningful. :ROFLMAO:

I've never done a used oil analysis and have had many different cars over the years ... and heard about used oil analysis when I joined bitog. It's just another "car related" task I don't want added to my list. But again, having more information or data about your car/engine/oil is always beneficial.

Also we are on the internet and what we say might come across differently or get misinterpreted! I was also teasing a little but NO, I still won't do a used oil analysis. lol

I ordered a 3 pack 5qt containers of Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w20. Walmart had it marked for $69.99, and I got 10% cash back.
For the next few changes that’s what she’ll be running. Probably 5-7,000 miles.
