It is in Central Illinois as well. For $6.97 a quart, I am stepping up to Amsoil. I am not paying $6.97 for a Shell product.

This should make Magnum happy

Why not?

SO you'll pay more? I once paid $8.60 qt for Amsoil and my truck sounded like it had a ball bearing in each cylinder. And yes, I used their filter too. All I know is what I experienced. Would not use it again.

I like the specs on the Toyota 0W20 oil, next OC for me I'm giving the Toyota oil a shot in my Jeep. It's cheaper than the ASM I'm currently using, and I don't plan on extended drains. Shipped to my door it should cost me about as much as PU is running in Walmart. Win win for me, and I don't have to leave the house. :-)

I chose PYB....

Why did you pick PYB over MC syn blend?

I too can't see paying that for oil when Q Power, Q Power Ultra, and others cost less.

Our Wal-Marts have Q Power on sale - 5 quart jug for $12.00.

Simply, principle. If I am paying $6.97 per quart, I am not supporting Shell at that price point. For that price point, yes, I would pay more to support Amsoil. I am currently running MC 5w20. As long as I can buy 5 quart jugs for $11.50, I am beyond happy.

I guess I don't see the principle in it. It's intersting as the amsoil quality difference is narrowing at a rather quick rate. No shipping, IMO just as good of a product on paper so far. I'll have an 8k UOA very soon.

Why in America have we been trained to believe that if a smaller company sells a product at a higher price than a larger company then it must be of better quality?

It's not just in America, it's human nature. Studies show again and again that people attach percieved value to items that are higher priced. Even if the lower price item is the exact same thing.

Longtime lurker....almost first time poster alert here! I wish the chuckleheads at the Walmart in south Greensboro would get the Ultra on the shelves. One of the associates today said "our department is messed up now, don't know when it will come out of the storeroom". I'm ready to do the initial change in my Mazdaspeed and they're really holding me up.

back.

Don't worry about your walmart they are not the only ones. My last trip to walmart in Elizabeth City, NC they still did not have it on the shelves either.

Finally they got at my local wal-mart today.

PP oil $24
PU oil $28

how many miles can we change oil on penzoil ultra oil or how many month?

Thanks. I probably should just go ahead and change it with Platinum. I use it in everything and have a lot on hand that I got when it was on BOGO.

Platinum is a quality product that is well proven why not use it.

Ultra is untested as of yet just allot of drool and conjecture. How long it last in use will depend on its TBN retention which has yet to be tested..
