Ultra 1plus Dex 6

In research, I saw that their gear oils were meh, but is there anything wrong with their dex 6?

I saw that tractor supply was selling gallons of it fairly cheap. Cheaper than maxlife.

Otherwise, is there anything else comparably cheap? Or is the $25 a gallon Maxlife about it?

I'm a bit skeptical. Is it actually approved Dex VI? It says Multi-Vehicle, and also says "suitable for use in applications which require GM DEXRON-VI".

I get that, I have no experience with them as well.

Their own website uses slightly different phrasing, and sounds a lot more encouraging, as it would.

According to that: "Warranty coverage as an officially approved General Motor DEXRON®-VI fluid." now whether or not that statement is true IDK.

I used it in a Dex VI application and it has worked fine. It was just a spill and fill but nothing weird happened afterwards.

Thanks for that, I'm sure I'm just overthinking it, and my application could really use something to act as a flush. Trucks had a hard life, and wasn't exactly cared for well.

Does this have an actual Dexron VI approval number ? ?

I did not see one on the TDS.. Maybe I missed it. But I didn’t see one.

If it truly meets that then it SHOULD have a Dexron VI approval number.

I would not call this more encouraging, it clearly is not licensed:

Their website lists most (all?) iterations of Dexron but then just says "MERCON" below that. But just "Mercon" could mean several things.

Except that Maxlife is sold by a blender that doesn't try and obfuscate the fact it doesn't actually have a license.

If their gear oils were considered by you as "meh" then why would you think their Dexron VI be any better than Maxlife or SuperTech Dexron VI?

Retail groups such as TS, Orcheln, Theisens, and others put out a bid request for a certain product for X gallons of product in either 5 gallon pails or quarts or 1 gallons. In addition, many of these retail groups will want their own labeling on the containers.

Negotiations follow between the blender and retailer on price and availability so both can make a certain margin of profit.

Many times, a not-so-well-known blender will sacrifice some profit to get their foot in the door with a national retail chain for improved visibility and sales.

I wouldn’t buy that Ultra Welfare Dexron VI supposedly approved fluid….

Hell Cam2 Dexron VI fluid has an actual approval number …. At least that is legit.

This stuff here is shady.

Excuse my ignorance, but what should the fuchs logo mean to me here?

If their gear oils were considered by you as "meh" then why would you think their Dexron VI be any better than Maxlife or SuperTech Dexron VI?

I don't necessarily, but I also don't need The absolute best fluid this first run. I intend to change it in 10,000 MI. The only problem I have with supertech or maxlife, is that in my area Supertech is as expensive as anything else because I can't seem to find gallon jugs.

I guess I don't mind Maxlife, There has been a mountain of evidence that it's a perfectly cromulent fluid, but I dislike the fact that it's a universal fluid rather than something more specific, that and I had a less than perfect experience, with the same transmission, in a buddy's truck. In the end a dedicated dex 6 just shifted better. (Although his was having issues with the torque converter at the same time)

Maxlife is $25 in change at my local Walmart and supertech is something like $34 and change, at $8.50 a quart
