UK Looks to be leaving the EU

The EU was also constructed to try and curb millennia long ethnic/religious/political/sectarian strife. Leftist bureaucrats thought they could solve those problems by bringing everyone together in one swell swoop and they would simply dissapear, most notably tension between Britain and Germany. Germany had much more economic leverage over other countries in the EU and there was growing resentment.

lets cut the [censored]; the EU is going over a cliff. Economically, socially, and politically. It's better it dissolves itself via democratic vote than "other means". This is the most historically volatile part of the world we are talking about...

Create a unified economic force against "troublemakers" to the East.

A veritable "green light" for malfeasance makers who would like the rest of the EU to crumble.
Yeah, that must be it.

One of the issues that troubled many Britons was being told they had to take 'refugees' by Brussels...many of these 'refugees' did not want to ASSIMILATE but rather make DEMANDS on their host....the same thing is happening here in America...I only hope we have the same fortitude as the Brits to take control of our future.

Say NO to Globalism...

I was with you until the end. I'd add the caveat that we know of. We are not as familiar with the volatile histories of the Middle East or Asia. So it's not like Europe is more volatile, it's merely more familiar to those of us in the West.

Interestingly the German and French stock markets took a bigger hit today than the UK did. About twice as much as a percentage.
Rolls Royce and BP are up.

And the future depends on cooperation and unity.

This is a good one

So why can't we cooperate from the comfort of each other's borders and countries? Why do we all have to be mixed in, like some sort of stew, under one big government, like EU? Have you even bothered to see what is happening in EU countries right now besides listening to the major media outlets?

Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and a few other states in the South would be getting along just fine if they weren't being propped up by the federal government, right?

You mean being told what to do by the Federal Government?

I think we'd be OK. No doubt some things would be worse, but some things would be better.

If given a choice between money, and some degree of freedom, like the British were just given, I hope that we would choose freedom over money.

Someone needs to buy the world a Coke.

You forgot Poland. They have their own currency.

I was reading on BBC.com. Apparently this is a non-binding referendum. The politically deaf could still try to subvert the will of the people. Parliament has to vote on actually leaving the EU.

If the EU did, that coke would cost each person $1.00 and they'd charge them $1.50 and force them to buy it!

Exactly. The EU is just a stepping stone to a one world government run by the [censored] devil worshippers.

I think one of the talking heads had a point when he said that the real shock is the vote...and it's yet to be seen how much of a shock this will be 6 months or two years from now depending on what the UK and EU machinations are surrounding this decision over that time. It's non-binding.

If there are supposedly 6 EU countries currently interested in leaving the Union, I wonder how much of a catalyst this vote will be if the UK backs off from this and ultimately doesn't adopt it at the end of the two year period.

Will they wait and watch or start in on their own?? Yet to be determined...but this is NOT a non-event any way you slice it.

It's not covered by any of the major media outlets, so it's obviously not happening and it's a non issue. Just sing kumbaya.
