They're definitely hideous. What's up with this new Transformeresque styling? The older ones are kind've cool looking,I liked those.

The price with rebate still isn't great.
The Fusion hybrid has a bit low mpg for me.
Maybe the diesel Cruze will be a sleeper???

I cringe every time I see one of these new ones. I thought the previous model was ugly, they're beauty queens compared to the current model.
No doubt it is one fantastic machine as far as reliability and mpg, but the terrible looks totally outweigh the benefits.

Yeah it is one ugly ugly machine. I cant believe nobody thought they should do something different.

Except when its parked in your driveway or garage....or when you are walking up to it....or washing it. That is enough for me. T rust me I wish I liked it....but the new Kia Niro does not look bad and gets 50mpg.

I think the Kia Niro is a good example of what might take off in sales versus a standard small hybrid like a Prius. My guess is that the Niro would outsell the coming Hyundai Ioniq just because of the subcompact version of the SUV body style that Americans seem to love. A guy down the street has a new Prius and the styling is straight out of a Jetsons episode in my estimation.
There's a California-specific ad campaign for the new Prius on tv here that says to me that Toyota might be concerned. It plays on the concept that California is a different place and Californian's "get" the Prius and somehow buyers want to buy into that along with the new body style and save the world...even if gas prices are low. I've never bought or not bought a vehicle based on the current price of gas, so maybe Toyota's correct in playing up that angle in a tongue-in-cheek way to pump up slow sales. It does seem pretty ***** is comparison to what's coming from competitors.

The perception of this car as ugly will make it cheaper out the door.

I saw one from the rear at night. Even being able to see only the lights, it looked massively ugly.
I heard someone say that Toyota updated the Pontiac Aztek with this generation Prius. LOL. There IS a bit of a resemblance.

Toyota gets bashed all day long for building boring, vanilla cars. So they step over to the edge a bit with the look and get bashed all day long.

Not only we are bashing their ugly styling, consumers rejected their idea of stand out(ugly) design by not buying it. Their sale volume went down more than 15% compares with last year.

I'll admit it, the front end looks like the face of a grasshopper but overall the design is still awesome. Also, 60+ MPG is nothing to sneeze at. I can achieve 70 MPG if I want to get in everybody's way but most of the time they're in my way.
