Ubuntu language settings...or is it FF?

I am really happy with the way Ubuntu 10.10 has brought my old laptop back to life. ALL hardware that I used with XP, all peripherals are functioning 100% perfect with Ubuntu - in some cases even better than with XP.

I have one bug: It seems FF thinks my preferred language is BRITISH english, and not US English. (I notice this in the auto spell checking...) I checked under preferences in FF, and US english IS selected, and so I thought some setting in ubuntu is overriding this setting in FF (3.6), so i checked in Ubuntu - and US english is selected there too...

Any ideas? what else can I check ?

Have you went to Firefox Addons then Languages and disabled all languages other than US English?

Give that a shot and post the results.

I just checked add-ons: US-english is not listed there at all !!! ...I disabled everything else it had (English Canada, UK, etc) but the problem is still there...how do I add US English?

EDIT: FIXED IT:

it was simple: just right clicking on an empty text box --> languages --> US English

That did it. For some reason, English-AU was active...
