Uber charged $24.71 to go 11 miles
Now if I go the exact same route but the destination is where they picked me up prior it is $12 more for the same trip...no tolls either way.
Both priced at the same time of day.
No big deal but interesting.
Wait times seem to be 4 to 8 minutes

Recently flew from Jupiter, FL to the Space Center area. Uber'd from TIX airport to the NASA visitors center, and back at the end of the day. Same thing, $31.50 for 9.8 miles, including a middling tip.

Bottom line, $63 to go less than 20 miles.

With those kind of rates, might as well drive my V8 F150 all the way up from Jupiter and skip the flying all together. $60 of gas will get my most thirsty truck at least 220 miles which is exactly the NASA round trip from my house.

Perhaps at that time of day, more people are going in the opposite (more expensive) direction you did, meaning the cost differential reflects demand.

I thought the same
The cheap trip was from MD. To DE.
From DE. Back to MD. was more expensive.

It's still cheaper than the cabs which were put out of business because of Uber and others. Sad thing is cab companies had to follow strict rules and regulations by the cities they served. Uber, Lyft and others do not have to adhere to those rules.

and pay for the Medallions ($1M in NYC if I remember right)

My Op was not complaining but noticed A to B cost was less than
B to A using the same driver and the same time of day and the same to and from locations...

I sure do wish there was an eyeroll reaction emote.

A laugh will just have to do.
That is why for my own use i dug this up...lol

Supply and demand pricing is how fares are determined beyond mileage.

I really like their service and far cheaper than dealing with DUI when I decide to have a few extra drinks out.

I will call a professional cab company first. As far as I know they still run. Uber can get lost.
