Tyreek Hill detainment

The moment the MC cops turned their lights on Mr. Hill was detained. Those MC cop's lights mean a gov't agent is demanding you stop your progress and address him/her. You are dealing in emotion not law.

When he was ripped out of the car his status changed in my state (NY) for sure. I can not answer that in FL law.
It did not. He can still be detained, not arrested.
Of course, when cop does that, he/she will proceed with arrest because in this case, cops used more emotion than judgment.

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion but here it is. We have all been sold on the idea that being a cop is a really really dangerous job. Statistically, it doesn't even make the top 20 most dangerous jobs in the US and it comes in significantly behind traveling salesman, truck driver, and garbage collector. Now, I'm not saying it isn't dangerous, but it's not the most dangerous, and in the end it's all relative. If you ask the average person and probably many cops, I'm guessing they'd all say it's in at least the top 5. Well, it isn't but that hasn't stopped us from turning local police, whose motto is, "To Protect and Serve", into a paramilitary-like force.

There is a ton of video footage out there of a group of police who enter into almost every situation already revved up, adrenaline already pumping, and the other cops around them and society as a whole reinforces the idea that this job is so dangerous that being vigilant isn't enough, and instead, you must be domineering or you will get shot and die. This then extends to the idea that too many cops believe they deserve "respect", not just in the form of someone being compliant, but people must also show SUBMISSION. As the person stopped, you must go out of your way to make them feel like you understand that they are in control and if you do not, you are a threat and a problem, and many cops will escalate the situation to make you submit.

This is a problem in this country even if it is a minority of cops. I've been pulled over several times and no one has attempted to dominate me in the situation. A couple questions, I submitted my paper work, and I was on my way. So, I know there are cops out there who can remain cool, calm, and collected but clearly we also have a population of cops looking for a fight. It's a difficult job where you see the worst possible side of people and it can be very dangerous, but you are there to serve the community, and that takes a special kind of personality to be able to manage the job.

The side of the road is not the place to try and adjudicate the law . People have been trained to resist the Police and push the limits of decent behavior . I guess he was more concerned with his street creds ..

What law?
Just like anybody, he was pulled over for the way he was driving. Why was he thrown on the ground and handcuffed for a traffic ticket?
You're not really trying to argue that he was handcuffed over his driving, are you? You know better. He was cuffed because of what happened AFTER he was stopped. Not arguing right or wrong, but that's what happened.

Cops are wrong, clear as day I would think.
He gave his license as required, told the cops to write up his ticket. Cop did not like that he rolled up his window or his attitude. Well, to bad as that is the cost of being a public servant.
Cop was wrong. You do not have to comply. Sickening honesty and I support the police but they are wrong this time. He does not have to comply other than to provide his license which he did, he doesnt even have to answer or talk to the police if he chooses not too. My guess is Police will be reprimanded or retrained or if he pursues this will sue and most likely win but will be settled before it gets that far.

Go ahead and flame me!
Cops need visibility of driver at all times.
Window heavily tinted. He caused the problem, but unfortunately cops over reacted.

Only people trained here are police officers. Noweher it says that someone has to behave certain way, respect etc. police. I probably blocked 50-60 people from being hired as police officers precisely bcs. they expected respect bcs. their job title! Police officers are only one here that MUST NOT let their emotions get in the way of their judgment. NOT other way around!
Now, people will say they have stressful jobs, etc. This is what I say to cops: if you pull over a neurosurgeon speeding 30-40mph over the speed limit, do you cut them slack because. someone died on their operating table? There are other, more stressful jobs, but we do not cut those people slack. That is why we have laws and regulations.
Both are wrong. But cops should have known better! They are trained to know better!

Bobby Boucher, Foosball is the devil. I know nothing about the Foosball. I had to look this guy up.

Everyone here could have done better. Just be civil to each other.

I find it interesting on a forum where everybody is so proud of what they claim to know, it is carried as a badge of honor to be ignorant in the area of USA sports.

Throw in a rap singer and it's a double badge of honor.

If you're scared don't be a cop.
No, If you are stupid don't be a cop. His windows have about a 15% window tint. Cops can't see what he is doing. He disopeyed the cops. Standard procedure to pull him out and handcuff him 100% standard procedure.

Obey police orders or suffer the fate. He should have gone to jail for sure. Any of us would have.

Imho both sides were in wrong, one was speeding and showed attitude when pulled over where the other blew and took it to another level. It's like watching videos of people in traffic where one idiot is trying hard to cut in Infront of another one who purposely doesn't let him in and they .... surprise... collide, then blame each other.

Oh I completely agree with this. If either of my kids spoke to somoene like either of these they would get no dinner.

However you need to remember only one is being paid as a public servant, and the rules of a traffic stop are wildly clear. Not to mention I have to believe that department policy is to treat people they encounter with respect, even if they receive none back. Its not about just who there interacting, but anyone who is watching. In this case the world is now watching.

I live in a city with complete lawlessness. I don’t watch a YouTube to experience it. I drive through it every day because I work in an office. I can’t see this as being what most would want.

The difference between my growing up and what I see today is for so many, there’s nothing to learn in life. It’s like when one reads this thread, it had only one possible outcome. Nothing could have been done differently. Could have would have been an opportunity to do better, 30 years ago. Ymmv

Windows were legally tinted however, I don’t know laws if you have to keep your window down. With that said he was lowering his window before the cop lost his patience.
He was also getting out of the car before the cops lost their patience

So what justifies being treated like an animal?
