was just listening to this:
(amazingly haunting, sad melody, just like the one I like from Syriana)
Kothbiro - Ayub Ogada - from the movie "The Constant Gardener"

(kothbiro="the rain is coming")

and here;s the Syriana theme...Just brilliant.
together, these 2 melodies can make me almost cry. (yeah, I know, I lost manpoints there :) )

I loved the scores for Heat, Das Boot (Klaus Doldinger), The Terminator (Brad Fiedel), Robocop (Basil Poledouris), Gladiator (Hans Zimmer), and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I really love the soundtrack to "the assisination of jesse james by the coward robert ford" by nick cave. just a pity the song he does near the end ion themovie isn't on the soundtrack. brilliantly made movie and music.

oh yeah; I think it's called "going home"
despite stealing riffs and style from JJ Cale to make a career, I liked that soundtrack from MK.

The only soundtrack I actually noticed during the movie, and then bought the CD, was the Peter Gunn-like Sixties-inspired music to Pixar's "The Incredibles." Dynamite stuff, like an early James Bond film brought up to 2004.

Eh, maybe a little.
I can see JJ being an 'influence', but an outright "steal", no.
Did Mark ever admit to JJ being an influence or mentor in any interviews (I have not seen/read too many with him as the subject)??
Anyway, I had always thought of him/D.S. as one of the MOST unique and original acts in all of rockdom (along with REM).
