I know of someone who tried some again, now that they've been re-released. He said that they taste like the ones from about 45 years ago and without so much of the artificial ingredients. I haven't been able to find some for myself, so would anyone have any input on this? Thanks!

Have you looked for them? Just saw some today at Walmart, they had plenty of them. I passed but I don't think they should be too hard to find. It was an endcap display too.

I was never a big fan of Twinkies, but I'll buy a pack if I run across them in a C-Store to celebrate their return.

The last one I had tasted like it had been sitting on the shelf for 45 years....

I thought they had an infinite shelf life? Very well could have been sitting on the shelf for that long ...

Yep, I read that they went back to the original recipe from before WWII. Expect them to sport the latest preservatives however.

Does that mean no HFCS in there?

I cant say ive ever eaten a twinkie ever, but I may try one, especially if it is an old time recipe.

Hmmmm... That's what I'm hoping for. Even though what my friend said sounded encouraging, we all know that we need some solid evidence to be sure. Time to get my magnifying glass.

So far I've tried a couple of supermarkets (Shaw's, Hannaford), so Walmart is amongst the next ones on my list. Might try there tonight.

I bought a bag of the powdered sugar Donette donuts. They were as good as ever.

Couldn't care less about any of the other items.

Supposedly they're freezing them all now. Maybe they'll need less preservatives. I'm not sure if I've ever ate one but I'm going to pick up one soon and see what's up.

Picked up a box yesterday. Will not be buying more. Don't know if they are the same as before but anyway they're not very good. Twinkies aren't for me apparently.

Tried a box. Took a while to get through it. Not fabulous. I guess it's one of those things that was better in the memory than reality.
