Turbine oil is the proper lubricant for oiling most electric motors. It readily separates from water, thereby not creating acids that can attack bearings, and it is a high temperature, non-detergent lubricant. These oils provide ample rust, oxidation and antiwear protection. ISO 32 (SAE 10) weight oils are normally recommended for motors up to 5 hp. Top lubricants are Amsoil RCH (R&O/AW Gear, Bearing and Hydraulic Oil) and Mobil SHC 624 (Synthetic Electric Motor Bearing Lubricant). Unocal 76 also makes a fine 4 oz. zoom spout turbine mineral oil, that's readily available through ACE Hardware.
