I have an air compressor at work that works like a roots style blower. it supplies a large volume of air at only 7 PSI. it's only lubricated parts are gears and roller bearings. the manufacturer reccomends ISO 150 or SAE 90 gear oil or SAE 40 motor oil and not a compressor oil.
what do you guys reccomend?
I am partial to mobil or chevron products becuase I already have accounts with their distributors.
I'm thinking mobil SHC in ISO 150.

Great choice. Mobil SHC 629 should be perfect for this application. Just to be safe, though, check with the compressor manufacturer and make sure there will not be any seal compatibility problems.

The tech reps advice was "use 90w gear oil, not motor oil, preferably synthetic, and do an oil analysis to determine the drain interval"
this thing holds less than a pint and pressurizes to 7 psi every 12 seconds then the pressure is released and the cycle starts over. it back blasts the filters in a large dust collector.

Yes mobil SHC 629 is perfect. It is what the Tech order for our root style compressor (150psi, 15cfm)on our self generating nitrogen cart uses.
Some dumb asses put mil-83282 hyd fluid or ATF (the only 2 red fluids we have in my shop) in one and it ran for 6 months and did fine till some one figured out that the compressor oil isn't red and changed it.
