The same properties that make turbine oil the proper lubricant for oiling most electric motors would appear to make them ideal for lubricating firearms. They readily separate from water, thereby not creating acids that can attack metals, and they are high temperature, non-detergent lubricants. These oils provide ample rust, oxidation and antiwear protection. ISO 32 (SAE 10) weight oils are normally recommended for motors up to 5 hp and would be my choice. Top lubricants are Amsoil RCH (R&O/AW Gear, Bearing and Hydraulic Oil) and Mobil SHC 624 (Synthetic Electric Motor Bearing Lubricant). Unocal 76 also makes a fine 4 oz. zoom spout turbine mineral oil, that's readily available through ACE Hardware. Let me hear your thoughts.

Not all turbine oils are really synthetic esters, and the stuff you quoted (really should be in quotes) doesn't necessarily mean the additives are the proper additives for guns.

Use a lube designed for firearms, like Purple Problem Solver.
