Need advice on deciding which motor oil to use. My choices are Quaker State Ultimate Durability Full Synthetic, Quaker State (green bottle) conventional, Peak conventional, or Warren Unilube conventional. Requirements are 5W-30 or 10W-30 with OCI's of 5k-7k & vehicles that are going to use them are: 2009 GMC Denali with 50,000 miles and a 1998 Volvo S70 non turbo 2.4 liter 5 cylinder with 129,000 miles. Also wouldn't the conventional oil be just as good as the synthetics for my applications?

honestly i would go with the cheapest synthetic you can find (which is usually QSUD). you are right on the border between synthetic and conventional if you're going 7k OCIs. and since you're in an area of the country where it gets really hot during the summer, the lower NOACK of the synthetic will help prevent sludge buildup. and QSUD is only a couple dollars more than a conventional anyway.

Out of those choices, I would always take the synthetic. Synthetic is just better. It flows better, can give better fuel economy, more heat resistant, more mileage resistant if you go over your projected mileage or don't get round to an oil change.

For the difference in price, it is worth it. I was buying it at full price. When I found there were $10 rebates, I bought more and now that there is a $20 rebate, it's a no brainer.

The only thing I would ask you to consider is whether you need a high mileage oil for the Volvo.

Depends on the vehicle is driven. That's an extreme OCI when using conventional oil in combination with all city driving.
