There used to be a specialty store like Radio Shack called Batteries+ or something. It was in New England.

Use Amazon for Samsung OEM.

Be careful of the "OEM" batteries on Amazon. I've bought and used several Anker batteries for 3 different Samsung Galaxy phones now, and all have been fantastic. Anker would be my recommendation.

Mugen Power makes some of the highest quality batteries for the big models. Anker is good too. The Mugen slim extended batteries are around 40-50 dollars but have slightly higher capacity than stock.

I'm using the Mugen Power 6640 mah in my note 4 and it's been amazing. I've used the slim extended batteries before and while they claim to have only a small percentage more mah than oem they ended up actually lasting much longer than rated leading me to believe they under rate their capacity slightly which is good.

I've had great luck with Anker product.

Actually going to buy a 26800mAh backup battery soon.

Third party sellers on Amazone market place may sell questionable battery, but Amazon wasn't known to sell counterfeit of any kind.

The last thing Amazon likes to have is someone sues them for selling counterfeit products.

Anker the offers a solid value while Mugen offers higher capacity all Japanese components, not made in China like the counterfeits.

There are still some oem charger+battery kits floating around although they have been discounted so no longer in production.

This is what I'm talking about.

The charger Itself is handy and would be useful to have an oem battery + another aftermarket battery incase you needed to battery swap instead of plug in

Presently buying two Anker batteries, and an Onite spare charger. Thanks for the recommendations!

I'm not familiar with that external charger but usually most I've seen are safe as they tend to favor an under charge which is better than over charging.

You should check one of the batteries as they come off the charger with a digital multi meter and compare it to a full charge from the phone.

I can't remember if the S4 was terminating charge at the typical lithium ion 4.20v or the newer version cells like the one in my note 4 go to 4.35v

I buy batteries for my phones thru E Bay.

Needed to this twice in the last 15/20 years.

Are they counterfeity? Who knows.

Do they work, fit, and hold a charge?

YUP!

And that's all I ask of them to do.
