truck keeping blowing out the p/s return line

Ok so this is my aunts truck i'm talking about. 2002 F350 with the v10.

so a few weeks ago it started leaking power steering fluid out of the return hose from the steer/gear box that goes to the cooler.

i looked at it and the hose look degraded etc. thought it was old and with it being really cold the line gave up and cracked.

so for a temporary fix, i cut off the bad part and left the metal tube portion on the box and clamped a piece of transmission hose on it and attached it to the cooler, it worked for a day or 2 and blew that out, so i figured maybe the line wasn't rated for that.

bought a new hose from oreillys and put it on earlier in the week, i guess it blew out today.

so now i'm thinking the cooler is plugged and will bypass it this weekend to see.

otherwise has anyone else had this issue?

i've also heard it can be pump related but i would think it would be on the pressure side instead of the return.

yes i put a new direct fit part on there and it blew that one out too

Why do people refer to Rock Auto for everyday general replacement parts/hoses??? I can walk across the street to Advance and buy those(on a jobber acct)... for odd stuff, ebay probably has them even cheaper...

Just about has to be a restriction in cooler, this time of year can run without it...

PROBABLY because you can (usually) view a photo of the part before you buy it.

My dad's 2001 F350 is getting some serious rot on the PS lines.

Is it possible there is a leak elsewhere? PS systems seem to like to blow lines off / caps off when they get air.

I just did it for the picture. Normally I would only recommend the factory one. It is not uncommon to replace the P/S cooler coil on these.

yeah I'm gonna bypass the cooler and see if that solves the issue.

If it is the cooler, it begs the question: "What caused the blockage?"

probably the original hose that was cracked and weathered a chunk could have come off from inside, i may try to blow it out and see what comes out.
