Have you guys seen the new 10w30 "Synthetic Blend" GF-4 Formulation at Walmart recently? I swear I saw it at my local Walmart a month or so ago (when I didn't need oil of course), but when I went back a few days ago, there was nothing and hardly a spot on the shelf for Trop Artic. Had to go Havoline instead and pay the 10 cent premium!
Picked up 3 cases the other day (dollar tree). It's in the suburu now and will go in the ford and hyundai when due. The 10/30's a good fit for the 3 cars I bought it for IMO.
My only observation so far is the suburu. It was running 5-40 rottella syn. At cold start it almost pegged the oil pressure gauge (into a small red zone) and ran above 50 down the highway. The 10/30 when starting cold is right on the edge but not into the gauge redzone (so much for the 5 vs 10 cold start presupposition). Down the hyw it runs just under the 50 line. Take it FWIW, just a notable observation that really doesn't say much.

There was a Trop-Artic commercial on TV about 15 years ago profiling a guy with I think a GM car with like 300k on it, and he attributed the oil to its long life. Someone here besides me remembers the commercial I bet. I remember Target selling it years ago, target now doesent barely want to sell oil anymore, it clashes with their, Im 22 years old and dont look under the hood type customers they love to have shop there.
I saw it at Walmart the other day, $1.12/qt. I had heard about it on this forum, and was tempted to get it for my wife's next oil change, but thought it was a little too inexpensive (don't wanna say cheap) to be a semi-syn of any decent quality. So, I ended up getting some Havoline, and thought later that the T/A coulda been a wise decision, but it was too late. I know, I know, it's not really marketed all big, so they can afford to sell it cheap...but I couldn't get past that low price tag, and the fact that it was alot cheaper than Motorcraft semi-syn. Something didn't feel right...but I think next time I'll pick me up some...
I think it is a steal at $1.00 (at Dollar Tree). I just purchased 5 qts for the wife's Explorer. If they keep it in stock, it could well be my oil of choice...
I bought some 10w30 TropArtic expecting to use it for an auto-Rx rinse! WalMart @ $1 .

I ran 5w30 in the clean phase of an AutoRx cycle on my 02 Jeep Liberty.
Now it has 10w30 Pennzoil for the rinse phase.
In my opinion the Pennzoil sounded immediately quieter--just sounds BETTER.
I would use the TropArtic though; I think it's a great deal. This is just an observation FWIW.

All the Conoco oils including the Tropartic have 30 ppm moly, no boron and a higher percentage of Group III to meet GF-4/SM. I'm betting that Havoline/Chevron with 200+ppm Moly and 75 ppm are gonna prove superior. Thats just speculation on my part.

Dollar Tree carries both TropArtic Synthetic Blend and straight dino...at the same price of $1.00 a qt.
The TropArtic blends are brand new..in fact the 10w30 specs were new in March, so I don't believe these oils bear any resemblance to what is listed on those charts.
