Any experience with these?
Have Bosch Icons on the Elantra beater and they're about 2 yrs old and the other day i found them frozen to the windshield a bit...even though there was no ice/snow etc...
(I thought frame-less was supposed to PREVENT it from freezing...huh)
Anyway, there were/are not bad in rain, but have reached their life-span clearly.

With winter/snow etc coming and having to park outside at work and having to drive on snow/ice days (if there;s any), I was thinking of trying the Trico Ice wipers this time...But can't find much info on them...

Also, 3 closest AAP stores do NOT carry them. (guess I can order online and have them install when I pick up at store).
EDIT _ NOPE - no 'pick up at store' for these ! weird! only home delivery.

Any feedback on these? are they really better in cold weather or is it a gimmick/advertising [censored]?

Any OTHER good, long lasting suggestions for a winter beater?

Thanks IA

frameless dont prevent freezing to window. they prevent freezing on the frame which makes them only hit the window partially because they wont flex so they hit a 4" strip

I've used Trico in the past, and they worked as well as most other brands.

If the vehicle is outside, wipers don't last for me any more than 2 years, regardless of brand. If garaged, they last a little longer.

Ideally you should replace wipers every 6 months, but for vehicles that are garaged it can sometimes go longer (up to 12).

And Rand is correct -- the frameless blades won't clog with ice/snow, but they can still freeze to the window. I'd just stick with the Bosch ICONs for now.

LOL 6 months? That sounds like the old 3000 mile OCI to me! Mine get replaced when they streak badly enough to reduce visibility.

I replace my wipers when they don't work well any longer and all of my attempts to keep the rubber clean, does little(or they seperate). Usually in about 2 years!

Ice blades or winter blades, cover the metal framing on the wiper so that water/slush/melted snow, won't freeze in the framing, rendreing the wipers themselves, about useless, til they thaw.

Beam style blades by their design, already take care of this issue!

Wiper blades will always freeze to the glass under the right circumstances and tempuratures. Lots of folks leave their wipers in the UP position while the vehicle is PARKED!
