Gas Gas, Montesa, Scorpa, Beta, Oset, Sherco; are all big names still making and thriving on trials bikes.

It has been going through a bit of a resurgence in recent years.

I rode observed trials for many years, but never did stuff like that. I'd like to say you can't do stuff like that on a twinshock, unfortunately I've seen some amazing stuff done on twinshocks. A lot of 4 stroke bikes in that video, Honda obviously, but 2 strokes still dominate in trials. Gas Gas made a sidevalve trials bike, to get some low down torque and low CG, but it didn't go anywhere.

I've got a couple of Honda trials bikes - the original TL125, and my '87 TLR200 that I competed with for 15 years. I much prefer a 2 stroke, and used them in the '80's, and don't know why I kept with the TLR200...just trying to make it work, which was hard work.

"Trials" bikes were quite the rage in the 70's, but I don't think anyone even sells them any more...do they?

The best "Hard Enduro" riders now usually have some trials background and so alot of amateur enduro guys look for cheap trials bikes to practice on. The used ones that pop up here go fast and for a fair amount of money.

I've ridden off-road over 60 years but never achieved real trial rider skills. Hats off to those trick riders.
