2013 Silverado 4.8 4l60e I noticed that my transmission in getting up to 200 while driving on the highway and be a temperature about 60° I've already replaced the filter and put fluid back to correct level when I was idling the other day I noticed the transmission temperature was a 207 but I dropped back to 200 when I started driving does it seem too hot what should my next step be should I replace the radiator because it's got a internal transmission cooler on it or what should I do it gets up to 200 after about an hour driving with lower ambient temperature around 60

What is the coolant temp? If it has an in-radiator cooling loop, the ATF is going to tend to sit there, unless if there is a thermostat that blocks running ATF to the radiator (in which case it is apt to run all the hotter I'd think).

Did it used to run cooler in the past?

I know it's not the same transmission, but the 10r80 in the Mustang rides at 200 as it's normal temperature. Pulled this picture from the internet for reference, this guy's transmission is overheating, but mine rode straight up 200 all the time.

I'm not sure if it's ever been colder because I just got the truck not too long ago but yes it does have the N radiator cooling Loop and the coolant temp is around 210

The transmission temperature in my Sequoia follows the coolant temperature: 210-220f. It has a heat exchanger between coolant and fluid.

180-200 is considered normal on a 4L60E

Make sure your radiator and condenser is clean and not blocking airflow, and if the temperature really concerns you then you could run an external cooler inline to the factory cooler.

Yeah I've been reading about that but I haven't really figured out what that is could you please explain it to me and maybe show me a picture because I would definitely do that I just don't know how to go about it

Ok cool seems easy enough and not very expensive so I'm going to go that route I appreciate your input

If I ordered a kit off Amazon that comes with rubber hoses will those hoses be sufficient enough to hold the pressure of the transmission fluid

There's not much pressure in an ATF cooling circuit. The most important thing about the hoses is their suitability to handle ATF without degrading. Generally, the hose that comes with an ATF cooler is rated for the job in all regards.

If your engine isn't running hot then your radiator is doing its job.

Add an external transmission cooler. Don't expect miracles when the stock cooler is sitting in coolant which is around 200 degrees.

My parents 2011 4.8 4l60e ran 175-195 under normal driving and up to 220 towing and no issues to speak of. I keep the fluid fresh though.

I installed a transmission cooler today and now it's sit at 170 but I believe I found the issue the Pinon bearing in rear end has alot of slop and it's kinda hard to turn I believe it stressing the transmission causing hight temps
