Im thinking about doing a trans drain and fill (boy I love having a drain plug) here in the next couple months. It currently has Schaeffer All-Trans Supreme in it. But I was thinking of trying something else just 'cause. Any Suggestions?
Thinking of maybe Amsoil, or Mobile 1...maybe RLI since I have that in the engine. I can't decide.
This is for my CV with its J-Modded 4R70W. Example shift

why not stick with the Schaeffer? otherwise you would end up with a mix. of course, all things being equal... I'm am Amsoil ATF fan....

I don't think mixing is a problem.
I'd use whatever good SYNTHETIC I could get for a reasonable price....ie: Amsoil, Mobil 1 etc...I'd even use Valvoline Maxlife (which is supposed to be full syn. and is reasonably priced). I'd also add LG red...

Not much with a top quality fluid. If the transmission is showing some wear, it might make things slightly smoother.

You can't beat the Schaeffer fluid. Change if you want, but there is no good reason to do so.

Alright, Ill stay with Schaeffer. It is easy to get since the distributor is right down the road. Just was curious if anyone found anything better.

Here is a post made by fellow member Trav from a couple of weeks ago.

"Running the new Maxlife transmission fluid in a GM 4T65E HD temp was 165F after 30 miles 60 degree ambient temp.
With Lubeguard red 1 oz per qt as per directions 162f same conditions 2oz per qt 155f same conditions.
Temp monitored while driving with Auto Inginuity enhanced GM."

I agree that LG Red doesn't do much with a top quality ATF. It was at one time the Cats' PJ's when using regular ATFs but not so much today. Won't hurt anything either, just not needed when using better ATFs

I'd stay with the Scheaffer ATF or any other high quality ATF from Amsoil, Mobil 1 or RedLine. Mixing won't hurt anything either as I have been doing it for 40 years...Motor Oils and ATF's.

I should be clear on the mixing ATF's...As long as it's the required/approved type of ATF for your transmission! Mixing brands isn't going to damage the transmission as will using different/wrong types of ATF!
This is what I meant.
