Hey, everyone! I had an idea about putting a drain plug in my transmission pan, but the thing is I'm only 17 and I don't have a whole lot of tools to do it with it. Any ideas about shops or tools that it could be done at/with?

Do you think you can safely remove the trans pan?
Can you work a hand drill?
There are lots of kits available where you just drill a hole in the pan and screw in a 2 piece plug.

Very easy once the pan is off.

Depending on what sort of setup you use, the plug may protrude into the pan when installed. If that's the case, make sure you locate it in an area where there's clearance.

I've installed a couple of the DIY drain plug kits. B&M markets them. The nylon washers are cheap. Replace the nylon washers with copper, put a drop of red loctite on the threads and tighten that thing down as much as possible. A wrap of teflon tape on the drain bolt will keep it from weeping. Be certain to check for clearance above the nut in the pan... you may not get it at the rear of the pan, but it will still be effective for draining the pan for removal. A nut welded on the outside of the pan is cheap and effective also.
