If the car were mine I'd just use Maxlife doing drain and fill every 30k miles, that's all.
Thats all I did to my 2007 Accord SE and when I traded it in in 21 it had 386000 on it....NO tranny issues at all...Get the factory DW1. No need for any additives like the Lubeguard, or whatever.
Drain and fill every 20-30k miles. Not sure on the mileage of your car, or if this is the first time the ATF has been changed. If yes, then you might do 2-3 drain and fills back to back, then driving the car a few miles in between drain and fills. If your car is like my accord and has 7qts total with 3qts exchanged each time, 3 drain and fills would leave you with a little over 80% new fluid. Should be good to start the 20k-30k drain and fill interval at that point.
Same here. My ‘06 Accord has 283k miles, with one drain and fill every 20k-30k miles. Shifts great after all these miles.Thats all I did to my 2007 Accord SE and when I traded it in in 21 it had 386000 on it....NO tranny issues at all...
I did change the filter once.. Thats an easy job too as it is right on top...Same here. My ‘06 Accord has 283k miles, with one drain and fill every 20k-30k miles. Shifts great after all these miles.
For sure, like another member posted -- check prices for the Honda DW1 and LubeGard Red. But they are the 2 components with normal spill N fills every 20-30K to hopefully give you quality shifts/longevity. When I initially use the LubeGard Red, I will dump the whole bottle in for the first spill N fill. Then every spill N fill after, I use 1 ounce per quart of tranny fluid per instructions on bottle.
Thank you for the specific amounts. I appreciate you!For sure, like another member posted -- check prices for the Honda DW1 and LubeGard Red. @LDJ, this is also good recommendation, I just prefer a non CVT/step shift variant for your TL, but I've used MaxLife in Hondas too without incident. If the car were mine I'd just use Maxlife doing drain and fill every 30k miles, that's all.
I have an '02 Acura TL sType with 205000 miles. I've tried to be very good at changing my ATF every 30k BUT I am not certain that mechanics have used the Honda DW1 fluid in the past. It will this time as I've just ordered 6 qts to take with me to my mechanic.Get the factory DW1. No need for any additives like the Lubeguard, or whatever.

Good deal. Just make sure they drive it a mile or so between each drain and fill.I have an '02 Acura TL sType with 205000 miles. Thank you for being thorough in steps to take for the process to be successful. I'll be right there with my mechanic while he's doing this.Good deal. Just make sure they drive it a mile or so between each drain and fill.

Well I better do it now as I don't know if a new filter was put in 15k miles ago. This good? Or do you have a better suggestion on companies and parts for deals and quality? https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...8/v/a/5954/automotive-car-2002-acura-tl?pos=0@LDJ, I would change the filter every other fluid change, which is still probably overkill. The original filter would have done most of the heavy lifting already.
ok I can start looking for the genuine Acura part.@LDJ, I'm not familiar with the quality of that filter, sorry I can't help you further. Maybe, someone else will chime in; aftermarket filter quality is all over the place.
