Love watching these videos on youtube.

My favorite first
What does it take to get plow locomotives stuck? O_O
And like a commenter said.. Listen to that turbo/generator whine!

Dat be alot of power. And listen to the sound of the locomotive diesels throttling up. Nice rumble there.

And some good ol fashioned STEAM POWER

Ok....I'll get on it. I need to make a video of walking through the plow. It was made in the 1960's. It's like a time machine. The plow gets priority over all trains during the Winter yet it only has a 25mph pass.

I'll take the wife's blackberry to work tomorrow nite and make a video and take some pics.

P.S.-I'm not supposed to but if y'all don't tell who will know?

And I'm talking about the plow in the Aurora NE video. That thing has been all over the country. It was just recently repainted in B N S F colors.

I'll be back to this thread in a day or two so keep watch!

Call me crazy but it looks like most of the snow is drifted there. In the NE video it looked like a field nearby was actually bare.

My question is, why don't they plant a forest near the tracks to keep the snow from drifting there? It seems like it is pretty expensive and time intensive to have to clear snow like that when it's basically only impassable from drifting.

Thanks for the vids!

My oldest son, age 28, has been with the CN Railroad now for 3 months as a locomotive electrician. He loves his job and sends me videos of him "testing" the locos after working on them.

My youngest son and I got a tour of the loco shop a couple months back one Saturday morning and it was pretty cool to see locomotives in various states of repair.

No snow plows however!

Wow those are cool! On that second clip, it sounds like the one locomotive just keeps bouncing off it's governor?

I have a still of the steam "Rotary Plow" on the Cumbres & Toltec. Both the rotary plows were at C&T. The flatbed plow was in Golden, CO at the Colorado RR museum. These were taken on vacation in 2002.
