More government gone out of control:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,149814,00.html

At least they didn't stand for it and got it removed. Unlike the sissies in this state that allowed the tolls to be doubled if you didn't microchip your car. Instead they flocked to buy the transponders to avoid higher costs. Yes massa...

You can count on it popping up again though.

I would not want any of my three sons under my thumb or anyone elses to that extent. It is not nautral or good! "As you bring your child up so shall he/she go into the world!" What message does this(being tethered) send to our children?

Personely I think a little bit of rebelon(sp) is perfectly normal and healthy! Our great nation was founded by non-comformist free thinkers! Sometimes you have to eat crow and pull the company line and other times you need to take chances and risks and go against authority! How are these kids supposed to learn when and where this type of action is required if they are being watched 24/7! How do you develop an honor system if their is no opertunity to lie? Charter is only built when one resisits the temptation to take the easy path. If their is no temptation to take the easy path then you will never develop charter. Any one can do the right thing when it is the only choice!

I also do not think that the goverment and other powers that be need to have the ability to track the average joe through a transmitter network at all!! I do not mind it being used to track crimanals, forginers on student visa's etc.....

I think it's a good idea for school students. Wouldn't you want to know if your kid is skipping or cutting class and find out for what reason? We must do all we can before most of the kids get hooked on drugs or some sort of other ill-legit stuff. It ain't no different than when we were kids, I'm talking late 60's and 70's here, and skipped class and the teacher or principal would call your father and tell them. Same old thing but with a modern twist.

I think I saw an article about this a few months ago where they used it in Japan. Mostly over fears of kidnaping? They take subways to school, sometimes over long distances, and thus can verify where they are. Centered on safety......

I think its a great idea. With the predators and nuts out there its time has come. Honestly the government is too screwed up to keep track of itself. I'm not worried about the big brother. I think folks worry too much.

I'm more afraid of the hoards of humanity coming accross the boarder. They can't keep track of them..what makes anyone they can track anything??

What a sad, sad world this is. I'm so glad I grew up in the '70s and '80s, roaming freely without the need (perceived or real) for constant supervision.

By the way, putting kids on an electronic leash won't prevent abductions and foulplay, and technology will never replace interpersonal relationships. Take the time to know your kids, people!

Just think one of the injectable thingies won't be so bad after all ,remember the government is here to help us.

Well ...if you don't allow this ..then you've got to accept the consequences of not doing it. You will either deal with the system not doing its job ..or paying the ante of no employing this modality to do its job (hiring many more people to assure that students are where they are at).

So ...don't bee-atch when something happens and the school cites being under staffed to do the job ..and don't bee-ach when the taxes are raised to hire 3X the behavior managers/security personnel.

You can't have it "right" in all ways without paying for it (civil liberties not withstanding).

That is, live with the "other" consequences of your assertion of propriety.

I wonder how I ever went through high school without a GPS tracker. My memory must be rather selective indeed.

"Tracking them down?" I don't think they need to be tracked, I think the government already knows where they are.
To be honest, this is a tricky one for me. I think if someone has served their time, they deserve the chance for a new start. And we have to assume that someone was, in fact, actually guilty of what they were accused and/or convicted of...which is sometimes a large leap of logic.
But I guess I think people in an area should have the right to be made discreetly aware of the presence of a sex offender. But, that would prejudice most people against the person.
So, I have no answer.
But as for actively putting tracking devices on people, any people, I say no.
On the other hand, if we're going to track regular citizens , I say let's do the same for everybody in the government, all the cops, all the judges, everybody. Some people shouldn't be more 'equal' than others, right?

Students do not need to be tracked! Kids need rules, disapline and lots of love!!! I think Religion and standards are also a key! IF kids need protection it is from crimanals not from themselfs. Tracking a student will never protect them. If society needs to be cleaned up clean it up so or kids are safer!

I knew growing up that any adult could and would chew me a new @ss hole if I got out of line. I knew that if I steped out of line and got caught that not only would my Dad know but so would every one in the area as the blotter report went out each monrning. Your name also appeared in the local paper along with your offense.

The school could padal, spank, whip the hands etc....You nieghbors would back hand you, spank you, chew you out etc.....Now days no one say a word to spoiled kids. Now corrects anyone else. Most people think spanking is bad! Most people have no religion at all and few standards! Everything is up for debate and nothing is inherinetly wrong or evil any more! Is it any wonder that kids are turning out so bad! A lot of parents do not know their kids friends, what music they like, were they are at etc.......

The United States is the Arm Pit that all the liberals helped to create since our leberal social experiment started dureing the 1960-1970!

In some states it is very diffacult to end up in prison due to over crowding and silly mandatory federal sentenceing on drug charges! While I realise that 80% of the crimein America is driven by the drug trade I would rather have the guy convicted of attemtped murder in prison then the guy selling the dime bag on the street corner!

In reguards to sex offenders we now know that pedaphiles can not be rehablitated as once thought! Lock them up and toss away the key or stick a needle intheir arm!

The other sex offenders should be tracked at all times and have to be registered. If I had my way they would all be forced to live on remote islands or be tatooed so that everyone knew who they were! I can think of no crimes more disgusting then sex crimes especialy against kids! I have never met a victim of a sex crime especialy children that did not cary their scar's for life!

The worst part of it and the major flaw of the public school system is what do you do when it comes to your school? You can complain but if the other parents don't agree, likely they won't care about you. What are you going to do? Threaten to take your child out of their school? They would actually be better off (more profit for them). You still have to pay taxes whether your child attends or not. They have no incentive to please you as a customer.
