Just did another track day this weekend and from this and others I've got some marks from melted rubber from other car's tires hitting my finish. I think that was my last track day for this year so I want to take them off. One of my buddies said WD40 will take them off but I want to be sure first since my black paint is fragile.

Try 3M Adhesive and Wax Remover. It takes off the rubber that gets stuck to my wheels after a tire installation very easily.

WD 40 does work, but depending on the paint can seem to soften it a bit.

I'd use oily mineral spirits first then work your way up to the 3m product mentioned. Use the gentle stuff (OMS) first, then only use the vicious where you need it.

BTW, I've got burnt on rubber in my rear wheel wells that will never come off the plastic liners used nowadays!

Stoner's Tarminator. It will strip any protection on the paint so apply a wax/sealant afterwards.

This wasn't drag racing, it was actual track sessions, since you inevitably follow some guys closely the rubber makes it as far up as the hood and windshield, can't tape all that off unfortunately.

I also have P21S Total Auto Wash. I wonder if that would work? I guess I'll try on the bumper. It's only the marks on the hood I'm worried about. I have a swirl-free glass-like finish on the hood I don't want to mess up by rubbing unnecessarily.

Many challenges at the track! Hope you find a way to get it off gently.

At least you are not like two SRT8 owners who spent the day running top end in Arizona and came home to find that they had sandblasted the paint right off the front of their cars by following each other at 170+!!!
