Hello I own a 01 tundra v8 that I like to keep in perfect shape. I’d like to service the coolant and I’d like to just buy a premix coolant instead of having to mix myself.. my main question is, is zerex Asian red more similar to Toyota pink than it is to Toyota red? I need Toyotas old school coolant, not the new pink super long life, and I’m worried that zerex Asian red is targeted toward being more like Toyota pink than it is red. Any thoughts? Thanks

Why do you need the red? I converted all my old Toyotas to pink years ago with zero issues.

Because that’s what it calls for so I run it, I have also heard that pink causes water pump leaks. I am not saying people shouldn’t run pink in pre pink applications, I’m just saying I want to stick with red

Toyota red and Zerex Asian are most similar of the three. Both Toyota Red and Zerex Asian use sodium benzoate and potassium phosphate as the main additives. Pink Toyota coolant uses sebacic acid and potassium hydroxide as the main additives.

Millions of Toyotas are driving around with the Zerex Asian coolant without any issues so you can use it with confidence.

Hmmn , one Camry just turned 8yrs, 100K, other one has 8/65k. It looks pink. How long is it good for?
It’s been partially changed/topped off a few times, but the xB’s pink is 19 1/2 years old. I should change it, I know, but it still looks new. I don’t think pink ever goes bad…

If your Tundra has a timing belt, you'll be replacing the water pump anyway as part of the TB service.

The dealer would probably use pink if you had them do the job.

Most people who want to stick with red do so because Toyota sells the red as concentrate, while the pink is only available in 50/50.

Pentofrost A1 (red) is available in both 50/50 and concentrate. The pink is Pentofrost A4.

FWIW, Toyota-Pink is forward and backward compatible with Toyota-Red. Applies across all brands/models. Didn't find any revisions. I can't comment on other brands of coolant.
